I think that it is wrong to blame Religion or the Bible, I mean both of them also create love, kinship, empathy, + tolerance. It is the twisting and perverting of them that leads to fundalmentalism and then craziness!!

Your point is so good, I feel the need to change my position somewhat. These holy books might not actually encourage violent behavior, if read in their entirety. I agree that the real problem is "holy men" who twist the books to fit agendas.
However, parts of the Bible and Quran do encourage violence and intolerance. At best, these messages are in contradiction to the "overall message" of the books, but they still provide ammo to haters.
Isn't it cool this whole thread is rated up?

Religion HAS to go! If not, then it must be reformed! People have to understand that religion is a belief, not a reason to act like an asshole. Christianity, Islam, and Judaism must be reformed and made more reality based.

while i respect your personal opinion, i dont think your belief should be our nations law. you even said you base it on the bible. well, this nation was not founded on the beliefs of any one religion. so what the bible says shouldn't be taken into consideration when forming our laws, that would be forcing your religous views on the rest of us. and what is the difference in the interest of society what title gay marrage has? what fundamentally changes based on what we call it?

Confucianism isn't a religion as much as a philosophy, but it's the predominant philosophy in Chinese heritage. As far as I know, the Chinese channel their interest in paranormal beliefs into superstition. Think Feng Shui.
It's more complicated than that. But the lack of insane biblical and quranic nonsense does seem to have benefited China.
And yeah, I definately said insane nonsense. Try asking me how I really feel.
