ya.. SANDALWOOD bcoz Karnataka is famous for Sandal wood.. Well, wat does this TOLLYWOOD mean,..? is there anything famous called -TOLLY in Andhra..?

i agree telugu industry is second largest. tats jes because the percentage of telugu speaking population is more...
But in terms of quality of the movie, i dont think its second... may be fifth-sixth i guess..

who said it is sixth or seventh??........for a industry to blossom it should be received by its state audience first.........not that people in andra r more than karnataka.........for that reason,kollywood has largest market,itz films r released in 7 countries.......but how can tollywood be number 2 after bollywood.........recently,there is a single movie frm south india,which is in the contention of oscars......

i know tat any regional movie has to be received well by the state first. its clear wat kind of movies do people there expect by looking at the movies.. may be people in andhra like to see the kind of movies it produces. Well, here people go abt the content & the quality of the movie.. not by sheer fan madness....

its nice to hear tat some movie atlast is in OSCAR race according to u... i hope its true.. Well, when it comes to awards its Malyalam, bengali,kannada & Assamese topping the list... last years three best critically acclaimed movies in India included kannada superhit movie " AA DINAGALU". Chek it out.
And jes recently only indian movie to bag OSEANS award is a kannada movie "GULABI TALKIES". So, pls don't talk abt awrds.. :-)

y r kannada actors not known even in south india...........ya malayalam bags more awards,but we know their actors........wat abt sandalwood then??.....in yesteryears,itz tollywood all the way.....we used to hav more quality actors......in middile,commercial films ruled the toast......now many low budget films with good stories are being well by telugu audeince....i thk except upendra ,i thk u dont hav any quality actor to receive acclaim out of karnataka!!!!!

very funny!! u said people in andra see only by sheer madness....u r saying ur films r full of quality and our films r sheer madness......y r ghilli and pokiri r massive hit in vijay carrer recently......ur hit film by ganesh starts with letter "M" is remade in telugu ,whc is a disaster here......the biggest hit of tollywood in this year are"happydays" and "yamadonga".....the first one is youthful storey which is being remade in tamil and bollywood.....
